General terms

These terms and conditions apply to the use of this Website, and by accessing this Website, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set out below.

This site is owned and operated by S. Norman & Son Limited ("Normans, we, our, us") - registered office: 13-14 Market Place, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, NR30 1LY, Company registration No: 00189264, Vat registration No: 105 2682 94.


Amendments

We aim to constantly improve and develop the Normans' website for the benefit of all our customers. To allow this process to take place, we may occasionally:

  • modify or withdraw, temporarily or permanently, this Website (or any part of it) with or without notice.
  • change the conditions from time to time, and your continued use of the Website (or any part of it). Following such change will demonstrate your acceptance of such change.
  • alter or extend promotions at any time.

If Normans' is informed of any inaccuracies of the material on the site, we will attempt to correct them as soon as we reasonably can.

Sometimes stock can run out before we have a chance to change stock levels on our site. If we do have to cancel your order we will notify you by e-mail and will refund you as soon as possible.

We will not be obliged to offer any additional compensation. 


Accuracy of content

Normans' has taken every care in the preparation of the content of this website. In particular, to ensure that prices quoted are correct at time of publishing and all products have been fairly described. However, orders will only be accepted if there are no material errors in the description of the goods or their prices as advertised on this website. All prices are displayed inclusive of VAT. We make every effort to display the colour of the furniture as accurately as possible. But as colour reproduction depends on your computer's monitor, we cannot guarantee that your monitor's display of the colour is accurate to the actual product. To help ensure that you purchase the sofa colour of your choice, please request a sample swatch of your chosen colour.


Before you place an order

Please feel free to speak to us before placing an order online - we will be delighted to answer any questions you may have. Here are some of the most common questions for you to consider:

  • Have you got adequate access for the furniture to be delivered? (Are your doors wide enough? Are there any awkward stairs, lifts or passageways?)
  • Will the furniture fit in the room?
  • Have you ordered the correct range and items you are interested in, and in the correct colour?
  • How would you prefer to make payment?

Acknowledgement and acceptance of your order

We will acknowledge every online sale via email. It is important that you appreciate and understand that your order represents a legally binding contract. Your statutory rights, including any cancellation rights, are unaffected.


Processing your order and delivery dates

You will be informed of an approximate length of time for delivery at the point of order. Once your order is confirmed as instore and available for delivery, we will contact you to agree definite arrangements for the date of delivery. Where possible, we will deliver at the first available date we have a van in your area. We can store your furniture for up to four weeks at no extra charge if delivery is not required straight away. However, if storage is required for longer, there will be a small weekly storage charge to continue holding the goods in our warehouse. Every effort is made to see that the approximate delivery date is accurate, but on rare occasions, the manufacture of your furniture may be delayed through circumstances beyond our control. We will, of course, make every effort to keep you informed.


Delivery and installation

We are only able to deliver to the UK mainland.

Delivery costs and surcharges.

Delivery is free of charge to most of the UK on all items over £150.00, all other items under £150.00 a £15.00, delivery charge will be made, this will be added to your finial invoice, however please note that some areas of Scotland, Wales and the South west will have a delivery surcharge. Please see information on each listing page.

This will have to be paid separately and is not added to your invoice, the shop will contact you to arrange payment.

Please make sure you provide us with a contact email and phone number in case we need to contact you, without these there might be a delay in getting the goods to you 

When ordering please email us of any parking issues, narrow roads and difficult access points so we can ensure the delivery driver is made aware. Failure to disclose this information may delay the delivery and could incur a surcharge.

If a date is agreed and no one is home to accept delivery, this will be classed as a failed delivery and a surcharge will be incurred which would be payable before another delivery date is arranged.

On the day of delivery, please ensure that the delivery team can gain easy access to the room that the furniture is going into. Please ensure that the area into which the furniture needs to be placed is also clear. The delivery team will require a signature as proof that you are completely satisfied with your furniture.

Most items are delivered directly from our manufacturers.

Delivery lead times will vary, lead times are clearly stated on the product page.

Please note, we try to deliver within the lead times quoted, but sometimes certain factors beyond our control, such as weather or breakdowns can result in small delays.

One man delivery service for smaller items.

The delivery company will contact you prior to your delivery to confirm a date. Once a date has been agreed you will be sent a confirmation email.

Please note that one man delivery service is to your front door only. Apartment blocks and flats, delivery is to the front lobby area only.

Please note a signature will be required upon delivery, if you notice any product or packaging is damaged please make sure the driver is aware and make a note of this on the driver’s paperwork.

Two man delivery for larger items to room of choice.

The delivery company will contact you prior to your delivery to confirm a date. Once a date has been agreed you will be sent a confirmation email.

All of our deliveries are made during working weekdays, Monday - Friday, between the hours of 8am to 7pm.

Payment

Payment methods include debit or credit cards, Visa, Mastercard, Delta/Connect or Maestro, with payment processed via Paypal.

It is recommended that you do not share your account details, like username and password.

S. Norman and Son Ltd accepts no liability for any losses or damages incurred as a result of your account details being shared by you.


Cancellation Policy

Distance selling regulations only apply to your order if the goods have not been custom made to your specification or if you have not examined the product in one of our showrooms. If the Distance Selling Regulations do apply, you can cancel your furniture by notifying us, in writing, before delivery or within 14 days beginning with the day after the date of delivery.

Due to their intimate nature, all mattresses will be delivered sealed in clear plastic wrapping that will allow for inspection. Any mattresses that have been unsealed will be deemed as having been used. Therefore they cannot be returned for any reason other than because they are not as described or are not of satisfactory quality.

Should you wish to return the goods it is your responsibility to take good care of the furniture. You are the owner of the furniture once it has been delivered to you and you are liable for any loss or damage. Failure to take reasonable care may result in a claim against you. To minimise the risk of any such claim we ask that you return the goods in appropriate packaging such as to prevent damage in transit.

If the products are found to be either damaged or defective you must email us within three days of delivery of the product and try to include pictures where possible.

If upon inspection of the pictures we agree that the item is damaged or defective and we are unable to repair the item to manufacturing standards, we will arrange for collection of the item and we will then contact you to arrange delivery of a replacement item to you as soon as possible or offer you a full refund dependent on time you have had the items.

It is your responsibility to return the items to our central delivery point in a good condition. However, Norman's recognise that many customers do not have the means to do this, and so will arrange collection during normal business hours (Monday to Friday) if requested. In such circumstances a charge of up to 20% of the price of the furniture will be made to cover the cost of collecting the items. This charge will be calculated according to the number of items to be returned, availability of a delivery vehicle, your location and complexity of removal.

Please note once the products have been delivered to you and any statutory cooling off period has expired, no items will be accepted for return other than where such products are defective.


Refunds

Following cancellation of your order, any monies paid will be refunded by the method you used to pay us and usually within 14 days. 

We cover your furniture for 1 year against any defects which may arise, under normal use, through faulty factory workmanship, including sofabed and recliner mechanisms. The guarantee starts from the date of delivery and offers cover against manufacturing defects on construction.

We will refund you the price you paid for the items. However, please note we are permitted by law to reduce your refund to reflect any reduction in the value of the Products, if this has been caused by you badly handling them or items damaged in transit due to inadequate packing. Please make sure items are retuned to us in the original packaging where possible.  

This guarantee applies to mainland UK only. Your statutory rights are unaffected.


Intellectual property

You acknowledge and agree that all copyright, trademarks and all other intellectual property rights in all materials and/or content made available as part of your use of this website shall remain at all times with us or licensors. You are permitted to use this material only as expressly authorised by Norman's. You acknowledge and agree that the material and content contained within this website is made available for your personal non-commercial use only and that you may only download such material and content for the purpose of using this website. You further acknowledge that any other use of the material and content of this website is strictly prohibited and you agree not to (and agree not to assist or facilitate any third party to) copy, reproduce, transmit, publish, display, distribute, commercially exploit or create derivative works of such material and content.


Miscellaneous provisions

The contract between us shall be governed by the laws of England and any dispute between us will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England. English is the only language offered for the conclusion of the contract. Our products are chosen on the basis that they will be used for domestic use. If you are planning to use them for business purposes please make sure that you are covered by the appropriate insurance. Where you decide to use the products in the course of a business, we exclude (to the fullest extent permitted by law) those warranties and conditions relating to fitness for a particular purpose. Our maximum liability to business users arising out of or in connection with the products shall be limited to the replacement value of the product in question (except in the case of death or personal injury caused by our negligence or in respect of fraud). In relation to business users, we do not accept liability for the fitness of goods for business purposes, nor do we accept liability for loss of use of the item nor any loss over and above the cost of the item in the event of a claim for breach of warranty or condition.

Norman's shall be under no liability for any delay or failure to deliver products or otherwise perform any obligation as specified in these terms and conditions if the same is wholly or partly caused whether directly or indirectly by circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

You may not assign or sub-contract any of your rights or obligations under these terms and conditions or any related order for products to any third party.

If any portion of these terms and conditions is held by any competent authority to be invalid or unenforceable in whole or in part, the validity or enforceability of the other sections of these terms and conditions shall not be affected.
